FatWallet overhauls ranking algorithm

If you are subscribed to rating based alerts you must have noticed a lot of false alarms today. The news is FatWallet has changed the algorithm behind posts ranking. You can no longer give negative rating to a post. More details on this can be found here.

To get things back in harmony we introduce temporary workaround. We will treat FatWallet new rating as double the old (normal) value. Basically we will divide it by 2 before publishing on WiredDeals. This will ensure that it has approximately the same weight as deals rated by SlickDeals.

Let us know what you think about it.

Latest update from FW: "We have temporarily shut down the rating system as we analyze our options going forward."

FW just announced a new rating system. In short, your rating goes 1 star through 5 stars. If you rate your individual rating overwrites group rating.

    More details are here: http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/652985/

I will try to come up with something to level these ratings with what SD uses but I already can see this is not going to be simple for the fact that SD ratings don't have a ceiling while FW ratings do (5 stars is a max rating that a deal can have).

And here is a funny FW commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Njl4JHNwYk

    Enjoy! ;-)
